A Vision For GananoqueTo continuously enhance Gananoque by being people centered, enabling citizens to enjoy the environment provided by the St. Lawrence and Gananoque Rivers while maintaining a sustainable economy.“To continuously enhance” means that three question be repeatedly asked. 1/ What should we continue to do? 2/ What should we stop doing? And 3/ What should we start doing?“People centered” means that the focus of all development will enhance the quality of people’s lives.“A sustainable economy” means that there is a finance base to pay for maintaining the vision. As projects develop to fulfill the vision, a champion or champions should be identified who will drive the concept to completion by interacting and involving the citizens of Gananoque while presenting the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of each project. To help the citizens visualize the proposal, concept drawings should be on display at Gananoque Town Hall.Economic development projects:1/ Downtown renewal2/ Clayton Antique Boat Museum - satellite3/ Convention Center –800 people4/ 750 plus theatre5/ Marina Expansions6/ Lower Town Concept Plan7/ Workshop for the art's community8/ Historical museumEnvironmental projects1/ Rotary Centennial Project – St Lawrence waterfront2/ Lions Walking Trails3/ Gananoque River – harbor plan4/ Control of the waterfront to ensure that citizens may enjoy it.5/ Ensure the water and sewer infrastructuresRecreational projects1/ Examine and decide which of the ten facilities as outlined in the Recreation Master Plan to implementHealth Services1/ Maintaining and Recruitment of Family Doctors2/ Alternative health delivery models3/ Emergency health servicesAccommodation1/ Affordable housingAny questions or ideas please email tbrons@townofgananoque.ca
