A Growing Club

Over the years our membership has fluctuated, ranging from 30 to a high of 70 in 1956. At that time we were represented at Lions International level by one of our charter Lions, International Director Don Carmichael.

It is impossible to report accurately how much money has been raised for service projects, but an educated estimate of $200,000 over the past 50 years would be close. The club’s Activities Account has never been fat in dollars as all money raised is spent on community projects and we generally have more worthwhile projects needing support than we have dollars to go around.

But often a hungry den of Lions is likely to produce an active club. In addition to the dollars raised, there have been thousands of hours in direct labour donated by members on various projects. It is interesting to note that Lions projects have changed as society has changed.
